Rachel Ben Shimol decides to build a memorial for her Brother Zvi, who died more than 50 years ago when he was 18 months old. But instead of his death certificate, she receives an official document from the Israeli Ministry of Interior, in which it is stated that Zvi did not die but rather "ceased to be" 10 years after his birth.

Thus begins Rachel's legal struggle for the exhumation of her brother's body from his alleged burial place. Thus also begins her daughter's, documentarist Idit Ben Shimol, voyage for the discovery of the truth behind the words "ceased to be", assisted by experts and testimonies about the affair known in Israeli history as the "Yemenite Children Affair". Rachel's legal struggle and her daughters filmed investigation lead to the creation of a disturbing picture which unfolds the mysterious disappearance of thousands of infants in Israel in the 1950s, as well as the systematic institutional disregard of a myriad of testimonies and official complaints by families broken by the loss of their children and abandoned by state authorities.
